About the Cover, Delphiniums in Glass,
by Jamie Konarski Davidson,
14-year breast cancer survivor
I am a nature photographer. It is only because of breast cancer that I am able to say this. I knew from the first moment looking through my camera lens that this image would be the cover for the Breast Cancer Resource Directory of North Carolina. Here is why....
The water on the glass represents the tears unleashed at the beginning and throughout the breast cancer journey. The textured glass represents how life as we know it is shattered and forever changed. The richness and vibrant color of the delphiniums beyond the glass represent, to me, the deeper, more beautiful life that comes on the other side of struggles. It represents new life.
I am a kinder, more compassionate and passionate person now than I ever would have been had breast cancer not touched and changed my life. And, I'm thankful for everything.
